Watch your language please!

(haha, it had published in STOMP. Finally!)

STOMPer Wesley Yeo was appalled by the boorish behaviour of this man he encountered while at the Ang Mo Kio Library’s Quiet Reading Room on Saturday (7 July) at about 4pm.

This foul-mouthed man was spouting vulgarities, without any consideration for the other users of the Quiet Reading Room.

Wesley recounts his unpleasant experience to STOMP:

“Everyone was enjoying the peace and doing their reading until this duo (the man in black and the other in white) came in.

"Firstly, they unscrewed the Straits Times from the reading table, but this was not the end.

"The man in black started to talk and talk, commenting on something he saw in the newspapers.

"The terrible part was when he started using Hokkien expletives in almost every sentence that came out from his mouth.

"Obviously, some other users could not bear his uncouth use of language and stared at him whenever he uttered the expletives.

"I can still tolerate people talking in the Quiet Reading Room, for this happens quite often, but I really cannot stand vulgarity."

He appeals to the NLB staff to conduct checks in the Quiet Reading Room once in a while.

Wesley also has a personal message for this man:

"Please spare a thought for all the ladies in the room. Respect yourself, and respect others."
